SHIP Publications and Resources Collection

The Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) is a cornerstone of Minnesota’s Vision for a Better State of Health, an important package of state health reforms that the Minnesota legislature passed in 2008. SHIP focuses on policy, systems and environmental changes designed to curb Minnesota’s obesity and tobacco crisis.  Minnesota counties and tribes received grants from the Minnesota Department of Health to address these issues by selecting from a list of strategies that focus on healthy eating, physical activity and reduction of tobacco use in community, school, workplace and health care settings. The Minnesota Department of Health has contracted with the Public Health Law Center to provide legal and policy technical assistance to SHIP grantees.

This section contains tools and publications that the Public Health Law Center developed for SHIP grantees. Although this information is designed to be Minnesota-specific, much of it is applicable nationwide. Also included are links to other publications of the Public Health Law Center that are relevant to the work of SHIP grantees.
