This snapshot of U.S. e-cigarette regulations was prepared by the Public Health Law Center. The information is based on a survey of current state statutes pertaining to e-cigarette regulations in the 50 states, Washington, D.C., and the U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands in the following areas: definition of “tobacco product,” taxation, product packaging, youth access/other retail restrictions, licensure, and smoke-free air legislation. Some links go to legislative websites because the laws have not yet been codified or are not otherwise available.
