Blog Post - How Health Departments are Making Their Web Content Accessible Under the ADA
WCAG-Evaluation Methodology Report Tool
A federal rule issued under the Americans with Disabilities Act will require state and local government entities to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) by April 2027 (2028 for small jurisdictions).
These new rules ensure that information posted to state and local government websites and applications are more accessible to community members with disabilities. But implementing these guidelines poses technical challenges, especially as applied to today’s public health data dashboards that utilize advanced analytical and customizable display functions. After a brief overview of the federal rule and WCAG and information on the barriers that prompted the passage of this federal rule, representatives of state public health agencies will speak to those technical challenges and how their agency is working towards compliance. This webinar is scheduled for 75 minutes.
